    CLIMATE CHANGE CAN REDUCE BANANA YIELD

    Global warming in the last about 60 years had helped increase banana yield in 27 countries since the 1960s. However, a study published in Nature Climate Change has said that with continued global warming, banana yield gains which happened since 1960s could slow down in some countries leading to a drop in yield by 2050.

    BACTERIAL STRAIN FROM IIT-BOMBAY SOIL REMOVES PESTICIDE

    Scientists at IIT-Bombay have identified and isolated a soil bacterial strain from the campus that helps in “complete remediation” of the carbaryl pesticide.

    INCLUSION OF KONGTHONG VILLAGE IN THE UNESCO LIST OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

    Rajya Sabha Member has asked the government to ensure the inclusion of Kongthong village of Meghalaya in the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage for preserving its practice of giving each child a unique tune called jingrwai ïawbei in the Khasi language instead of a name.
