    COLOMBO PLEA FOR POSTPONING DEBT REPAYMENT HANGS FIRE

    A request was made personally by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to postpone its debt repayment due to the present economic crisis caused due to COVID-19. However, so far, Indian Government has not responded on this aspect of deferment of debt repayment by Sri Lanka.

    BLACK HOLE MERGED WITH UNUSUAL COMPACT OBJECT

    In August of 2019, the LIGO-Virgo gravitational-wave network witnessed the merger of a black hole with 23 times the mass of our sun and a mystery object 2.6 times the mass of the sun. Scientists do not know if the mystery object was a neutron star or black hole, but either way it set a record as being either the heaviest known neutron star or the lightest known black hole.

    RBI EXTENDS BORROWING TIME FOR BANKS

    In order to enhance the money supply in the economy, the RBI had decided to relax the requirements of daily maintenance of CRR and enhanced the borrowing limit under the MSF in March 2020. These measures were applicable until the end of June. The RBI has now decided to further extend these measures till the end of September.
